A-1394: Book 1 develops concepts by having the student interact with the numerous pictures and illustrations. Students divide regions and groups to understand fractional parts. The number line is introduced as a way of seeing parts of a whole.
A-1395: Book 2 helps students understand addition and subtraction by posing step- by - step questions about finding a common denominator, finding common multiples and finding the least common denominator.
A-1396: Book 3 begins by picturing the multiplication of a fraction by a fraction using rectangular arrays. Similar activities are used with division before rules for multiplication and division are developed.
