Students play games that involve coins, spinners, dice, and Native American gaming sticks. Students investigate chance and probability with concrete materials, learn how to gather and analyze data, make predictions, and draw conclusions. As students gain direct experience, they also build confidence in their ability to explore probability and statistics.
These activities provide a solid basis for the development of much needed real-life understanding and skills. Skills developed include: predicting, describing, comparing, estimating, drawing conclusions, working with a partner.
